    Who Needs an LCQ?

    Anyone who wants a Manager's Certificate must first hold the LCQ certificate (Licence Controller Qualification). At least one certified manager must be on duty whenever alcohol is being sold.

    What's Involved?

    The LCQ covers two NZQA unit standards (4646 and 16705): the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act, host responsibility, identifying intoxication and your legal obligations. You can complete it in a one-day course or online at your own pace, then ServiceIQ issues your LCQ certificate.

    Looking for an RSA certificate in NZ?

    A responsible service of alcohol (RSA) certificate is an Australian requirement. In New Zealand, the qualification for managing licensed premises is the LCQ, which covers host responsibility and the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act. Bar staff who aren't managers don't need a certificate, although host responsibility training is strongly recommended.
